EDUCATION BOOT CAMP GETS TEENS BACK ON TRACK

Dozens of teens who once thought they’d never finish high school received diplomas Sunday, finishing an educational boot camp that helped turn their lives around.

With soldiers’ poise and discipline, these teens reach a milestone that once seemed impossible. Most have earned a high school diploma, and all are finishing a 17-month intervention program - Hawaii Youth Challenge Academy—run by the Hawaii National Guard.

“Before I came to this program, my dad and them were all disappointed in me,” 18-year-old Noah Fukunaga says.
