Salem, Oregon - The Oregon National Guard Youth Challenge Program will hold it graduation ceremonies on Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds. The Oregon National Guard Youth Challenge Program (OYCP) has been recognized as the #1 Challenge Program in the United States on three occasions. It is Oregon's only statewide alternative high school and Oregon's only military high school.

The OYCP serves 16-18 year old high school drop outs, those no longer attending school or those failing in school. This program is educationally based and is accredited by the Association of Schools and Colleges and Universities.

This program serves nearly 300 students per year and its school environment is centered around 8 core components and military values that act as guideposts for the program: citizenship, health and hygiene, physical education, community service, leadership, life coping skills and job skills. In addition, evaluation of graduation rates, student development, student placements, post residential compliance and the mandatory mentor program are audited by the federal government through the National Guard Bureau.
