NATIONAL GUARD ACADEMY MENTORS KENTUCKY TEENS

The National Guard Youth Foundation's Bluegrass ChalleNGe Academy, based at Fort Knox, trains and mentors 16- to 18-year-old high school dropouts in a structured program that helps participants improve their life skills, build self-discipline and increase education levels and employment potential.

Local participants include Heidi Ryles of Florence and Ryan Wuilleumier of Petersburg.

The 17-month program includes a five-month residential phase followed by a 12-month mentoring phase.
