Alaska first lady Nancy Murkowski is back in Washington, D.C., this week to promote the National Guard's Youth ChalleNGe Program, in which the Alaska Military Youth Academy in Anchorage participates.

Murkowski has become a fan of the program, which takes high school students who are struggling with their academics and puts them in a military-style residential camp. In October, Murkowski and Oklahoma first lady Kim Henry kicked off a national campaign to expand the program.
